Kidney Stone Series: Chapter 1

It all started March 11, 2006, Ace had his very first Kidney Stone. We remember that night well. Ace said having the stone has moved his pain meter sensitivity down a great deal. I was pregnant at the time, and decided that having a kidney stone looked much worse than being in labor.

Ace did not seem to have any breaks between his contractions, causing him incapacitating pain that eventually caused vomiting. He stuck it out for three hours, but finally threw in the mercy towel and we called a friend, Kurt, to bring him to the Emergency room at 3:00am.

Later that morning Ace arrived home tired and happy on Vicodin – a strong pain relieving drug. Two days later the tiny stone popped out. He put it in a little capsule and set it on the desk as a trophy. For months it sat there as he wondered if he should sell it on Ebay. He never did, and eventually threw it away, a mistake he would soon regret. . .

Oh, I do agree! I'd MUCH rather have a baby than having a kidney stone. The only thing that is worse is being PREGNANT, and having a kidney stone, and the good drugs can't be given. Been there - done that! :) Thinking of you all . . .

Hi Loni,
Ace was doing Internet research on his kidney Stone and he mentioned a lady who had two kidney stones with in six hours of giving birth. Can anyone top that story? It probably made the birth seem like a breeze. Ouch!
