One Last Good Bye

Just before we piled into our car to return to Florida we took a few minutes to walk out into my parents back yard to bury our little baby Moses. Back in October I asked my parents if we could bury Moses in the secret garden (a garden my Father had made for my mom in honor of her taking care of my Grandmother the last five years of her life.) They said yes and so we kept Moses in our freezer until we returned in December. It was hard having Moses in the freezer and having to see him everyday. But I knew I would feel much better having him buried in Michigan my true home rather than Florida.

We used a wooden box that was hand painted by a good friend Steve Ziebarth. Steve had painted this box for Ace years prior. Its been sitting in Ace's tool box and Ace thought it would make a great coffin. It fit Moses perfectly.

Standing around the grave sight in the frosty snowy cold. My Dad dug the hole in the fall preparing for this day. Thanks Dad!

Ace placing the coffin into the ground

Poring the dirt.

My Dad had the idea for everyone to throw a rock on to the grave like Joshua did when the Israelites crossed the river. So that we could remember.
Joshua 4:7b These stones are to be a memorial to the people of Israel forever."

The pile of rocks after everyone threw one onto the grave. My Father will cement the rocks together in the spring.
Afterwards Ace prayed and thanked God for our little boy. We all wanted to have more of a ceremony than just a prayer but, when you are all emotional its just so hard to talk and say anything at all. Thank you God for the snow falling it added a special peace to the moment. I am thankful that this chapter has come to a close. And thank you everyone as you bear with my writing one last blog about our miscarriage.

Here I am sitting in the Coffee House in town, tears streaming down my face. Thank you for sharing. My heart goes out to you, and I am thankful with you for Moses brief life here, but moreso for his eternal life in heaven. Sorry we did not see you more but Christmas get-togethers and colds seem to go along together. Love to you all. Miss you. ~Loni
